Waukon Site Development
Construction continues on the new Waukon location site. We are nearing the final stages of the 80' X 240' new office/warehouse building in Waukon. Flooring has been installed and they are just doing some finishing touches with counter tops and plumbing. Final grade work for the site near the offices is almost complete, along with the final touches on the rock and concrete surrounding the building. City water and sewer utilities are also being installed with delays once again in that area due to weather. Soon, natural gas and final electrical lines will be run. We are planning to relocate into the new offices within the next 30 – 45 days!

The 2,900 square foot office area will contain five offices, counter sales area, conference room, employee break room, and baths. The basement level will not be finished at this time but does host most of the utilities needed in the office areas. Storage areas have been designed above the offices with 1,800 square feet of area designated for additional storage for the adjacent maintenance shop. The remaining 1,100 square feet of space will be an enclosed area for general storage needs.
The 2,800 square foot maintenance shop have two bays and will provide adequate space needed to perform necessary preventative maintenance and repairs to IAS equipment.
Grain facility construction has got the producers buzzing with the tower dryer, overhead structure and two of the four bins complete. The bin builders should finish bin erection by the end of July. A lot of work still remains with the fill and reclaim conveying and the electrical, but we should meet the early harvest completion target.
A total of one million bushels of capacity will be built in 2010 along with drying and handling equipment.
A lot of work remains to be done but plans today include relocating the offices to the new site in August with grain additions completed and ready for the 2010 harvest.
Oran Location Improvements
Two facility projects at the Oran location will take place over the summer of 2010.
Also coming along well is the construction of the 1.25 million gallon UAN tank in Oran. The contractor selected to complete this project is A & B Welding from Thompson, IA and will resemble the two 1 million gallon tanks built by A & B tank a few years ago at the IAS facility in Farley. Most all of the tank itself will be completed by the end of next week. A concrete contained receiving pad will soon be poured as well as the tank plumbing to allow filling to occur this fall. An underground line will be trenched into the existing load out area, which will also be upgraded with another load out bay and some automation to the loading process. Oran boosts over 7000 ton of UAN sales annually, so all of the storage will be consumed by themselves for the most part. This will make logistics flow much smoother in season!

The second project will be the construction of two grain bins adding nearly 425,000 bushels of needed capacity. A 60’ and 78’ bin will be erected along with fill and reclaim conveying needed. This capacity addition will complement the drying capacity improvements made last year at the facility.
Watch for updates on these two projects as they unfold.
New Equipment at IAS
Several new pieces of equipment have been recently placed into service at IAS locations.
Six new Ford F250 pickups have replaced older units sold over the winter months. These units were placed at the Andrew, Central City, Farley, Manchester, Monona, and Waukon locations.
A new Ag Chem 8204 VRT floater was placed into service at the Elkader location. This unit replaces an older model and will provide continued capabilities of applying VRT fertilizers and lime. This replacement provides IAS with 16 VRT units company-wide to meet your VRT demands.
Three new John Deere 4830 post emerge sprayers were also placed into service for spring 2010. These units replaced two older RoGators in Central City and Waukon and allowed an additional unit to meet growing market share at the Manchester location.
A couple of agronomy tending updates have been done over the winter as well and provided the Andrew, Manchester, and Oran locations with increased capacity in servicing their respective application units.
Other additions include three portable UAN storage trailers, seed tending equipment, and two flatbed gooseneck trailers.
