PPE/Chemical Safety

Monticello, IA – Innovative Ag Services Co. (IAS), most of you work with chemicals on a daily basis whether you are cleaning your house, changing the oil in your vehicle or spraying the fields. Are you using the proper personal protective equipment otherwise known as (PPE)?

 

When it comes to chemicals you need to make sure that you are taking every precaution to protect yourself against the potential hazards associated with that particular chemical.

When working with chemicals, make sure that you are first reading the label. Always follow the directions on the label. The label on a chemical will tell you:

 

  • The proper way to handle the chemical

 

  • What kind of PPE (personal protective equipment) to use

 

  • What to do in case of a spill

 

  • What to do in case of accidental ingestion

 

  • What to do if you get the chemical in your eyes or on your skin, and any other pertinent

            information you may need to know about that certain chemical.
