IAS Sponsors Trip to Philippines and Malaysia

July 22, 2015  (Monticello - Corporate Office)

Union, IA – Dustin Hadley, Location Manager, presented a donation of $250 from Innovative Ag Services that was matched with funds from Land O’ Lakes Foundation for a total of $500. This donation was given to the Iowa Corn Leadership Enhancement and Development (I-Lead) Program to help send the members of I-Lead to Philippines and Malaysia.

The I-Lead Program is a resource for talented people who want to contribute to a better future for Iowa’s communities and the long-term profitability of agriculture in Iowa, and is charged with developing stronger leaders for Iowa agriculture.

In March of 2016, a class of 20 students from all over Iowa will be traveling to Philippines and Malaysia to look at export market development for many of Iowa’s major agricultural products (corn, soybeans, ethanol, and livestock) and develop an understanding of five key topics:

  • Determine concerns and opportunities to increase exports of U.S. Agricultural products to their country
  • Evaluate how current infrastructure affects U.S. agriculture imports.
  • Identify regulatory and policy barriers to trade.
  • Recognize potential ways or policies that would increase trade.
  • Experience and understand agricultural practices in another country.

Target activities during this trip include meetings with grain and ethanol importers, feed manufacturers, and major livestock industry representatives.
