August 6, 2013 (Garden City)
Kristen Pierson, Garden City IAS Customer Service, is helping to organize a short Motorcycle Ride and Fund-raiser to help raise money to fight Parkinson’s Disease. This is a cause that is near and dear to her heart as her husband, Chad Pierson, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2007 -- he was only 37 years old. Parkinson’s is a degenerative neurological disorder whose symptoms progress in most cases from mild tremors to complete physical incapacitation.
Lost Cause is working with the Iowa Chapter of American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) to sponsor “Shake, Rattle, & Roll” on August 24th. APDA was founded in 1961 to “ease the burden and find a cure” for Parkinson’s. The organization focuses its energies on research, patient services, education and raising awareness about the disease.
“Shake, Rattle, & Roll” will begin in Roland at the American Legion. It will start with a short motorcycle ride leaving the Roland American Legion at 12:30 p.m. (registration from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – no cost for the ride). The riders will go to Pickles in Kamrar, and end at Carousel Lanes in Story City. Non-riders are encouraged to follow the motorcycle riders in cars or meet up with them around 4:30 p.m. at Carousel Lanes in Story City. There will be a silent auction, as well as a short live auction, and food. Live music will performed by the Bill Dewey Band. All proceeds go to the APDA (Iowa Chapter).
