From the Driver’s Seat: Energy Updates & What’s Ahead
Hello from your NEW man with gas!
Since my last update, the energy markets have continued to experience extreme volatility. From tariffs to war, there hasn’t been a quiet trading day in months. This environment keeps the job interesting, although my barber has recently noticed a few new gray hairs! The most frustrating aspect of all this is the disconnect between bearish fundamentals and the oil market’s lack of reaction. Despite several key indicators, such as increased supply, demand concerns, and ongoing trade tensions, the oil market has shown minimal response.
For example, OPEC+ has significantly ramped up oil production over the past few months and has announced another substantial production hike set for August. Normally, these actions would lead to downward price pressure, yet the market remains stubbornly unpredictable. Still, in the midst of this, we’ve seen brief windows of opportunity to lock in positions for the fall and winter seasons in propane and diesel.
As of this publication, you should have received your propane contracts. Please take the time to review them carefully and ensure they are returned by August 31. Timely submission helps us serve you better and secures your pricing for the colder months ahead. If you’re looking to contract diesel, please reach out to your local driver or contact your nearest IAS Energy location to get your usage covered.
In addition to market updates, I’d like to bring members up to speed on a key infrastructure project currently underway. We are in the process of upgrading our cardtrol systems, and you should begin seeing those updates finalized by the end of August. These upgrades are part of our ongoing commitment to efficiency, security, and customer service, especially as credit card transactions continue
to increase.
With the new cardtrol system, you’ll gain greater control and flexibility. Features will include setting gallon and dollar limits per day, week, or month; selecting your own PIN number; and many more enhancements in card management. These improvements aim to make your fueling experience more secure and more convenient.
The Energy Division is on track to have a successful and profitable year, and I want to take a moment to thank the people who make that possible. Thank you to our service technicians, drivers across propane, diesel, and transport, and our customer service representatives. Your hard work, dedication, and the strong relationships you’ve built are the foundation of IAS Energy’s continued success.
